Guangdong - China
Tang Dynasty (618-907 CE)
This Guangdong dusun jar is a testament to the vibrant maritime trade and ceramic innovation of the 7th–10th centuries. With its sturdy, rounded form and rich, earth-toned glaze this storage jar was both a practical vessel and an object of beauty. Made in the kilns of southern China, these jars were widely exported across Asia and the Middle East, valued for their durability and distinctive glazes that sometimes formed natural drips and variations during firing.
This particular example is likely a shipwreck recovery.
Condition: Glaze loss due to exposure to elements like seawater. Glaze is fragile.
