This exceptional 18th-century pewter charger, crafted by the renowned Connecticut pewterer Samuel Danforth, represents a fine example of colonial American craftsmanship. With a broad, shallow bowl and gently raised rim, the charger was ideal for serving large portions of food or used decoratively for display. The piece is marked with Danforth's signature eagle hallmark "Samuel Danforth" as well as "Hartford" along with 4 other small touchmarks.
