A wonderful Patch Box with an intricate port scene on the lid and floral decoration on the sides. There is a four dot diamond mark on the base. Originally patch boxes contained a sweet treat and they were purchased by traveling sailors or merchants. After arriving home, the sailor would then give the box to his girlfriend or wife. The woman would then eat the treat and use the box for cream afterwards.

Overall nice condition with minor wear and crackle inside the lid.

2" wide
