A sticking Tommy is the 19th century equivalent of a flashlight. They were used to navigate dark barns or houses. Using the iron spike on the end or using the hook they were attached to beams to provide light anywhere it was needed.
very nice condition with very little corrosion. Some 19th century candle fat near socket.
