A wonderful Patch Box with a the motto "A Token of Esteem." This probably refers to a sweet treat that was originally in the box when it was purchased by a traveling sailor or merchant. The sailor would then give the box to his girlfriend or wife when he arrived home. The woman would then eat the treat and use the box for cream afterwards.
Overall nice condition with minor wear. The lid does come off, however, it is quite tricky to do so.
